Define a qualified computer-repair inquiry before optimizing the campaign
Create a practical repair-inquiry definition based on service fit, geography, contactability, and observed job stages rather than raw form volume.

A repair campaign can produce many inquiries without producing many jobs. Some people need a service the shop does not offer. Others cannot be reached, are outside the service area, or only want to buy a component. Treating every submission as an equally valuable lead makes these differences hard to see.
Define a qualified inquiry using facts the team can apply consistently. Then track what happens after qualification. The aim is to improve decisions about service demand and campaign outcomes, not to reject people because they fail an invented buyer stereotype.
Make the definition operational
A qualified inquiry might concern an accepted device or service, come from an area the business serves, provide a usable contact route, and request a next step the shop can actually offer.
The definition should be written down and approved by the shop. Include uncertain cases and a route for staff judgment. A visitor who cannot name their device precisely may still be a good customer. Do not make technical vocabulary a condition of receiving a response.
Google's About qualified leads and converted leads distinguishes later business stages from an initial inquiry. Your process must supply the actual consistent outcome.
Separate qualification from a promised diagnosis
A marketing form should not imply that a few symptoms establish the technical cause or repair price. Collect enough practical information to route the inquiry and explain what the business can assess next.
For example, the shop may need the broad device category, the requested service, the visitor's area and preferred contact method. The technician can decide what additional information is needed in the authorized service process.
This preserves honesty when the fault is uncertain. It also prevents the ad from claiming a fixed outcome that depends on inspection, parts and the customer's approval.
Use a hypothetical stage example
Assume a shop receives 50 unique inquiries during a defined period. In this hypothetical example, 35 meet the approved service-fit criteria. Twenty-five book a diagnosis, 18 accept a quote, and 15 become completed paid jobs.
If advertising spend is $750, cost per raw inquiry is $15, cost per qualified inquiry is about $21.43, and advertising cost per completed job is $50. Those figures answer different questions.
The example does not establish that the campaign caused all fifteen jobs. It also does not include labor, parts or overhead in the $50 figure. Record attribution and cost scope alongside the calculation.
If ten inquiries remain unresolved, show that open stage. Do not quietly classify them as lost because the report was produced before the shop contacted them.
Record reasons that can lead to a fix
Use a small reason list such as unsupported service, outside service area, duplicate, unreachable after the approved contact process, or still awaiting assessment. Keep the wording respectful and specific.
A growing unsupported-service category may call for clearer ads or pages. A growing unreachable category may call for a form check. A long queue of suitable inquiries may indicate insufficient response capacity rather than weak targeting.
Avoid an all-purpose “bad lead” category. It hides the distinction between campaign fit, contact problems, staff timing and uncertain outcomes.

Protect information while improving the report
Keep identifiable service records in the shop's approved system. Public campaign examples should use aggregated or hypothetical data. Review exactly what any form, URL and analytics event transmit.
Google's Best practices to avoid sending Personally Identifiable Information (PII) prohibits sending recognizable personal information to Analytics. Do not place names, emails, phone numbers or free-text service notes into campaign parameters merely to connect reports.
A pseudonymous internal record and an authorized contact process can have different purposes. A scoring label does not grant permission to contact an otherwise anonymous visitor.
Check how the campaign uses conversion stages
Review the actions and goals selected by the campaign. If raw forms are the main optimization signal, the account may pursue that early stage even when the shop values completed jobs.
Do not change the goal map until the qualification data is reliable and the account owner understands the proposal. Our Google Ads Primary vs Secondary Conversions: Decide What Bidding Should Value explains why the action label and selected goals both matter.
Adding a later-stage label to a spreadsheet does not automatically connect that outcome to an advertising platform. Any import or integration needs its own verified setup and approval.
Include calls in the same process
A person calling the shop should receive the same service-fit evaluation as someone completing a form. Call duration alone is not proof of a qualified job. A brief call can book a diagnosis, while a long call can concern an unsupported service.
Use the Google Ads Call Tracking: Measure Calls Without Confusing Them With Sales to review available evidence. Document the call outcome without publishing private conversations or collecting information beyond the approved purpose.
If the shop misses calls during repairs, qualification reports should identify that contact gap rather than blaming the search query.
Review the definition after real use
Ask staff whether they can apply the criteria consistently. Compare a small authorized sample of decisions and resolve ambiguous cases. Watch whether an apparently useful criterion excludes serviceable work.
Present the funnel as readable cards on mobile: inquiries, qualified, diagnosis booked, quote accepted and paid job. Include the dates and remaining open cases.
Take this worksheet into your next campaign review. Current AdvisorPPC plans can help you identify the appropriate account-review access, while the qualification definition stays grounded in the shop's actual service process.
