Buying an Advertising Connector: A One-Account Evaluation Worksheet
Evaluate an AI advertising connector with one account, a real reporting task, clear permissions and a full-cost worksheet before expanding access.

Choose an advertising connector by the decisions it helps you make in the client you actually use. A long provider list does not prove that a specific report, approval or change is available through your AI assistant. The most revealing evaluation uses one account and one ordinary business question.
For a small retailer, that question might be: which campaign produced orders we can afford to acquire last month? For a service business, it might be: which search inquiries became qualified opportunities? Define the question before comparing subscriptions so that a polished demonstration does not replace your buying criteria.
Separate the four permissions involved
There is your advertising account permission, the connection's authorization, the connector's product entitlement and the tool surface presented by the client. A paid subscription does not override a missing advertising permission. An authorized connection does not prove every provider operation is exposed in every AI client.
Google Ads distinguishes access levels, including read-only, standard and admin. Its access table explains which actions each role can perform. Use that table to check the account permission behind a demonstration rather than assuming that a successful sign-in grants all capabilities. About access levels in your Google Ads account.
Ask the vendor to identify which of those four layers is responsible if an operation is unavailable. An answer such as "upgrade and try again" is inadequate if the underlying issue is the wrong Google account. Accurate error handling is part of product quality, especially when your team will depend on the connector every week.
Test a report you can reconcile
Pick a completed reporting period, record its currency and time zone, and ask for one campaign-level result. Compare the output with the advertising interface using the same filters. Differences should have an explanation, such as conversion date versus interaction date, attribution, rounding or missing data.
Then ask a follow-up that requires the assistant to acknowledge a limit. For example: "Which of these leads actually paid?" If payment data is not connected, a trustworthy answer should say so. A model should not transform a platform conversion into a bank receipt by changing the wording.
Our AI advertising tools guide can help frame the options. Keep your own acceptance criteria narrow: correct account, reproducible report, understandable limitations and a practical route to help.
Evaluate a write without making a risky purchase test
If you need editing capability, request a demonstration of the proposal and approval experience using a suitable test or nonspending workflow supplied by the vendor. Ask what fields are shown, how an approval is tied to an account, and what happens if the underlying setting changes before execution.
You do not need to increase a live budget to establish that a button exists. A vendor should distinguish a mockup, a validated request and a verified applied operation. Each is useful evidence of a different thing.
Read the approval-gate framework before deciding which tasks you want to delegate. The relevant question is whether the control is enforced for the exact operation you intend to use.
Compare the complete monthly cost
Consider a hypothetical team comparing two tools. Tool A costs $120 per month and needs two hours of review at an internal cost of $50 per hour. Its monthly operating cost is $220. Tool B costs $80 but needs four hours of review, producing a $280 operating cost.
These are invented evaluation figures, not AdvisorPPC prices. They illustrate why the cheaper subscription can be more expensive to operate. Include any separate AI-client subscription, account add-ons, usage charges and onboarding costs relevant to your actual setup.
Next assess value conservatively. If a connector saves three hours at $50 per hour, the directly estimated labor value is $150. Do not also count those hours as extra revenue unless the team actually uses them to produce profitable work. Estimated avoided waste belongs in a separate column until it is observed and reconciled.
A simple worksheet is:
Monthly operating cost = subscription + add-ons + usage + review time + allocated onboarding
Record cancellation terms, renewal date and data-export options beside that calculation. A purchase should still make sense when the introductory demonstration is over.
Check how access ends
Ask how to disconnect the AI client, revoke provider access, cancel billing and request deletion of retained data. Those are different actions. Removing one connection should not be assumed to complete the others.
Google provides account controls for reviewing and removing linked-app access. Its documentation also distinguishes removing sign-in links from deleting information held by an app. Review the vendor's retention and deletion policy separately. Manage links between your Google Account & apps from other developers.
Treat a clear exit process as a buying requirement. Record who owns the business account so a departing employee cannot become the only person who knows how to reconnect or revoke access.
Use a pass, investigate or decline scorecard
Give each requirement a result: account identity, required provider, required report, intended client, write control, usage limits, support, revocation and full cost. Do not average away a critical failure. A connector that cannot access your required account fails that requirement even if its interface is excellent.
Compare this product evaluation with the broader AI manager versus agency decision. A connector can support your operating process without replacing every responsibility in it.
For AdvisorPPC, begin with the current pricing and product scope. The intended free lane covers Google Ads reads; other providers and writes require the appropriate paid product. Confirm the exact tools in your chosen client and use support if that scope is unclear before paying. Buy the capability you can verify, then expand when it earns its place in your workflow.
